I’m Tomislav Suhina, PhD, a data scientist and AI engineer. I learned the work by doing all of it, from model architecture and MLOps to agentic AI and RAG, and by leading teams. Over the past 8+ years I’ve delivered production systems for organisations including Heineken and Rabobank, several still in use and creating value today.

Substance over buzzwords.
My journey started in academic research, with a PhD in Physical Chemistry from the University of Amsterdam, designing molecules and modelling their behaviour. That scientific rigour still shapes how I approach data science. I’m comfortable not knowing the answer yet, and systematic about finding it.
I prioritise robust approaches over fleeting trends, and clear communication with stakeholders at every level. I believe that “simple is better than complex, and complex is better than complicated.”
What I’m proud of: building projects from scratch end to end, leading a 15+ person team as technical lead on a marketing-science programme that created value at tens-of-millions scale, and later being brought back as an independent contractor to improve solutions I originally built. That full-circle moment still makes me proud and humbled.
